At the conclusion of the novitiate the individual is admitted to temporary profession. Vows are taken at this stage, normally for three years, though this may be extended . Final profession follows.

After temporary profession the brothers, in the light of the ministries to which they are destined, may follow a course of studies. This could be literary, scientific or professional - and under this head is included studies towards ordination.

It is to be noted that within the Rosminians, studies for the priesthood come under the vow of obedience. This means that the initiative comes from the superiors of the Institute and not from the brother concerned.

Some Rosminians remain as Brothers, and such matters are the subject of mutual discernment betweem them and the superiors of the Institute. Some may indicate a preference to remain in that state, others may be guided in that direcion.
